M. Butterfly
M. Butterfly, based upon a true account, tells the story of a French diplomat arrested for passing information to a Chinese opera singer with whom he had a 20 year affair. The singer turned out to not only be a spy, but a man. Playwright David Henry Hwang takes this story and mixes it with Puccini's opera Madame Butterfly to investigate the conflicts between East and West, men and women and within ourselves. B.D. Wong played the lead in this Broadway hit, which won the 1988 Tony Award for best play.
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown
You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown is based on the Charles M. Schulz comic strip "Peanuts," which features such characters as luckless Charlie, Lucy the shrew, blanket-toting Linus and piano-playing Schroeder. Begun Oct. 2, 1950, the strip now appears in more than 2,600 newspapers internationally. The musical comprises loosely arranged songs and vignettes -- a slice of the lives of these elementary-school aged characters. B.D. Wong appeared as Linus.
