Co-leader of conference-sponsored mushroom study-tours of the People's Republic of China (1983), Japan (1984), India and Nepal (1985). h. 1971-1984: Research Associate in Ethnopharmacology, Botanical Museum of Harvard University. (Investigating medicinal plants.) i. 1971-75: traveled widely in North America, South America, and Africa as a Fellow of the Institute of Current World Affairs to study indigenous medicine, psychoactive plants and altered states of consciousness. Wrote 39 newsletters on these themes, most of which have since appeared in book form. j. 1970-71: wrote a book, The Natural Mind, published in 1972. k. 1969-70: worked one year in the U.S. Public Health Service, stationed at the National Institute of Mental Health in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
