Aftermath: World Trade Center Archive

(August 2006)

Published to coincide with the fifth anniversary of 9/11, this book is an extraordinary photographic archive of Ground Zero after the attacks on the World Trade Center, by master photographer Joel Meyerowitz, the only photographer to gain unlimited access to the site after the tragedy. Presented on a monumental scale, these images of physical ruin and emotional strength—interspersed with personal reminiscences and stories of those working at the site—place on record the moments of courage, compassion, and solidarity that occurred there. The book serves not only as an elegy to the thousands who lost their lives, but also celebrates the tireless effort and bravery of the thousands of police officers, firefighters, construction workers, engineers, and volunteers who assisted in the clean-up process.

Cape Light: Color Photographs by Joel Meyerowitz

Originally published in 1979, Cape Light became an instant classic and one of the most influential photography books published in the latter part of the 20th century. Common scenes-tiny figures on a beach, a porch railing against a storm-darkened sky, a blue raft against a summer cottage-all are transformed by the poignant light of the Cape and Meyerowitz’s subtle and luminous vision.
