Terry Waite
Audience Comments

Everything went as well as could be expected, in fact, I don't know how it could have been better. Terry Waite is a remarkable person, and his achievements are even more stunning when he talks about them in person. He is one of the most gracious individuals I have had the pleasure to meet. He was more gracious in his encounters with folks here he went the extra mile in many instances that I would have never expected from people of his caliber.
 Boise State University

...Terry Waite is a giant of a man, both physically and spiritually, and the effect he had while addressing our meeting was galvanizing. When he told us that the only way he was able to survive his ordeal in captivity was by standing on the truth, we knew truth in a way, in our souls

Terry Waite made the conference. What a sweet, humble, personable man...
 Pepperdine University

...Well - what a delightful experience this has been! Terry Waite was unquestionably the most dynamic, inspirational speaker we have experienced. His presence in Vancouver on May 26th has raised the vision and aspirations of our association to a new plateau. You could hear a pin drop during Terry Waite's luncheon address, and our membership is 'buzzing' with enthusiasm and personal comments about the impact of his words, his insight and his convictions....we were truly honored by the visit from one of the unique individuals of this century.

...You have blessed Augustana College. Your presence, your spoken word, your rare ability to interact with people of all ages is to be commended and appreciated.

...Terry Waite's visit with us was a most memorable experience. His public address Tuesday evening and his conference session on Wednesday morning were experienced by all who attended as the highlights of a very successful Conference. His insights, openness, good will and sense of humor were an inspiration to all of us. Terry's relaxed and 'down to earth' approach to what can, for others, be a cumbersome formal occasion quickly served to set at ease those of us with responsibility for managing his visit...it was a great honor and delight to spend time with him.

We fell in love and wanted to keep him.

He touched the hearts of everyone in attendance.

...Thank you Terry, for sharing your wisdom and life's work with us. We were honored to be in your presence, and feel lucky to have had the opportunity to spend time with you. Thanks for that extra commitment you made to participate in the entire Forum, and especially for being so available to our students...Thank you again . You have touched our lives in a very special way, and you shall always be in our thoughts.

...I was indeed a pleasure to have Mr. Waite address our community. Those who were privileged to spend time with him personally that afternoon and evening are also very appreciative to that time spent with this gentlemen.

...Since that conference (which has now become our premiere program) was begun in 1989, we have had some impressive persons deliver powerful addresses. Terry outdid them all. People in the audience were almost afraid to breathe for fear of missing a sentence or even a word. It was the most attentive--spellbound might be a more apt description--audience I have seen in eleven years of producing conferences at Kanuga....before and after his address, Terry was relaxed, approachable, and genuinely interested in those he met. There is no question but that each person left Kanuga convinced that he/she is now a close personal friend of Terry Waite.

…brilliant…wonderful…thank you for bringing him to us…he is just amazing…his laughter is so glorious – it is amazing that he could have the spirit he has, given all he has gone through…

...He was absolutely the most powerful speaker we have ever had. As one of our guests put it, "I was profoundly moved by Terry Waite's presentation." He very much touched our group with his warmth, his sense of humor and his genuine goodness.
 St. Joseph Health System

Terry Waite came, spoke formally and informally and won our complete admiration. He was a complete delight to have with us. He mixed humor with serious thoughtful and informed commentary. He was very engaging, challenged us all to think critically about the state of the world affairs and gave of his full time and energy during his visit. He received a standing ovation at the conclusion of his presentation to our audience of 500. Several of my colleagues thanked me for inviting him to campus and several more commented that he was among the most intellectual and engaging speakers that they had ever heard.
 South Dakota State University

...He is only our 2nd international speaker in 38 years and that in itself made him special. Everyone lived just to hear him speak-in fact, he could have just opened his mouth and recited nursery rhymes and the audience would have still listened!
 Town Hall

...Thank you very much for coming to the University of Illinois and sharing your story of courage with us. Your impressive portrayal of your experiences in Beirut was very poignant and inspirational. The lecture was very well organized and the brief passage read from your book, Taken on Trust left the audience in awe and moved to tears...Thank you so much for being so willing to follow our itinerary with a sense of humor and lightheartedness.

...Allentown College of St. Francis de Sales was indeed privileged to have so warm and gracious a guest as Terry Waite on our campus, October 28. His presence was delightful: his presentation touching and inspiring. As Frank O'Brien wrote in an Election day column for the Quakertown Free Press, it was a refreshing "break from the sleaze and bull Terry Waite and the rest of the country have been subjected to (referring to all the political speeches and messages of this campaign season), to hear a fascinating man tell his story to an overflow crowd at Allentown College."
